The company

Our history

Pioneers of plastics recycling.

Image

The history of our family-run company begins in 1985 in Mühlheim am Main. Josef Wirnik founds a grinding company that processes high-quality rejects from the injection molding industry for reprocessing in order to promote the circular economy.

For a long time, we campaigned for the industry to provide us with the surplus plastic, separated and labeled, instead of simply disposing of it. Recycled materials were not yet in demand at that time and regranulates did not exist. When the turnaround came and the demand for recycled material increased, we quickly became a sought-after partner for many companies thanks to our experience.

You too can benefit from working with pal plast! We react quickly and flexibly to your wishes and adapt to your requirements. This saves you money and strengthens your competitiveness. With pal plast you always have sustainability efficiently and economically at your side.

Our start into a sustainable future.

First compounding plant

Introduction of a co-rotating twin-screw extruder and quality improvement.

At the turn of the millennium, we put our first compounding plant into operation and set up our own test laboratory so that we could process the regrind ourselves from then on.

Since then, we have ensured the consistently high quality of our compounds by constantly analyzing and testing raw materials and products. This is precisely what our customers appreciate about pal plast.

Our special compounds are designed for specific applications. A large proportion goes to customers in the automotive industry.

However, our customers also include the construction and electrical industries as well as many other sectors such as furniture and household products.

Particularly popular re-compounds and compounds are, for example, scratch-resistant or low-noise versions. New to the range are our electrically conductive polymers.

Further development of Pal Plast

Family business in the second generation.

His son Amit Wirnik, who joined the family business in 1989, has held the role of Managing Director together with his father Josef Wirnik since 2006. Together, they have since ensured the sustainable further development of pal plast.

Factory P2

The green factory.

The commissioning of the new P2 factory in 2020 is a milestone - on the way to the future, it already fulfills our vision of holistic sustainability today.

With P2, we are not only meeting the constantly increasing demand for re-compounds, but also creating a production facility in which our employees feel comfortable, which treats the resources of our environment with care and still produces at a consistently high level.

Pal Plast in transition

Sustainability as a holistic concept.

Sustainability is a holistic concept that we at pal plast apply to all aspects of our operational activities.

In concrete terms, this means avoiding waste, thinking and acting in cycles to conserve resources and working with our customers and suppliers to further establish the circular economy in a profitable way. We also work on this every day at our new, spacious company headquarters.

We have created ultra-modern production conditions, storage, laboratory and office space on a built-up area of 10,000 m². Here too, sustainability was always at the forefront of the design and implementation.

All system controls relevant to the production processes were integrated into a common system. Mobile and stationary control systems and all operating devices were merged.

With daylight and ideally regulated climatic conditions, we create the best working conditions for our employees. Their high level of motivation and sound training benefit our customers with every new order.

Sustainable temperature control

The modern hybrid cooling systems.

We would like to give you a concrete insight into our measures. We have been purchasing green electricity from a hydroelectric power plant since 2014 and were able to achieve a positive side effect with the switch: Our switch enabled the entire town of Mühlheim to purchase green electricity from then on, as the conditions improved.

Modern hybrid temperature control systems in the factory, which use water and outside air as coolants, keep energy costs low and enable precise temperature regulation at the same time. We even use the waste heat from production to preheat the granulates, which saves melting energy later on.

Electric forklift trucks, a fleet of fully or partially electric trolleys, LED lamps with intelligent sensors and strip lighting in the hall ceiling are also part of the concept.

Human resource

Focus on employee well-being and safety.

Another area of sustainability for us is the careful use of human resources. Our committed employees are the basis for a well-functioning company, which is why their well-being and satisfaction are important to us.

A place where you spend so much time should not only be functional, but also offer opportunities for relaxation and exchange. A light-flooded and open office complex with a think-tank lounge, green roof terrace and social room are just as much a part of this as relaxation rooms.

The safety of our employees is also a very high priority. This is reflected in various measures: acoustic panels keep the background noise to a minimum. All scales, filling stations, packaging equipment and the entire technology are embedded in the floor to prevent accidents.

Electric forklift trucks and lifting vehicles can only move in one direction throughout the production area, and our contactless doors only open in one direction.

Sustainable processes

Our commitment to the environment.

The proportion of recycled material in our application-specific recompounds is now up to 100%. We see this achievement as confirmation that the enormous efforts made in the early years of our company's history have more than paid off. This not only fills us with pride, it also motivates us to continue to stand up for a resource-conserving circular economy.

Our personal aspirations and ambition allow us to remain open to new challenges, which naturally also applies to the further deepening of the principle of sustainability in our company. We want to work continuously to promote sustainability and drive it forward together with our customers and suppliers.
